After cleaning up at the 2016 Lehigh Valley Music Awards, singer-songwriter Scott Marshall will go into March's ceremony with a leading 13 nominations.
Voting for the 18th edition of the LVMAs opened Wednesday and continues through 8 p.m. Dec. 24. Fans can cast their vote online at lehighvalleymusicawards.org.
Marshall's nominations include Outstanding Singer-Songwriter and Outstanding All-Around Performer in both the industry and fan ballots, as well as Outstanding Male Vocalist, Outstanding Album, Outstanding Song and Fan Choice. Earlier this year, Marshall walked away with nine awards.
Easton-based vocalist Mike Roi and his band, Roi and the Secret People, and singer-songwriter Carter Lansing and his band, Acoustic Kitty Project, tied with seven nominations a piece.
Roi is up for Outstanding Singer-Songwriter, Outstanding All-Around Performer and Outstanding Male Vocalist; Roi and the Secret People are vying for Outstanding Rock Band/Soloist, Outstanding Loud Rock Band/Soloist and Outstanding Music Video for their single "Phoenix."
Lansing, also of Easton, and Acoustic Kitty Project are up for Outstanding Folk Band/Soloist, Outstanding Country Band/Soloist, Outstanding Americana Band/Soloist and Outstanding Acoustic Guitarist.
Newcomers Shawn Cav Ensemble landed up four nominations: Outstanding New Band/Soloist, Outstanding Jazz Band/Soloist, Outstanding Bass Guitarist and Outstanding Album (Glass Houses).
The mix of nominees also represents a greater diversity for the 2017 show, as established, previously-nominated artists such as Marshall, Dina Hall, Dan DeChellis, BC Combo and James Supra will go up against a slew of up-and-coming acts -- including Summer Scouts, Slingshot Dakota, Goat Wizard, Julia Sommer and Redwood Reggae, among others.
The awards ceremony will be held March 5 at Musikfest Cafe in Bethlehem. Start time is 4 p.m.
Tickets for the show cost $20.
