Civic Theatre to host 'Hometown Hollywood Film Series'

Civic Theatre will celebrate three Hollywood stars, and starlets, whose journey to the silver screen started in Allentown with its "Hometown Hollywood Film Series."

The series opens March 1 with a screening of the 2014 Robert Pattinson-Dane DeHaan film Life. Mean Girls, which co-stars Amanda Seyfried as Karen, one-third of high school girl clique The Plastics, will be shown March 2. The series wraps up March 3 with a showing of 1995's The Brady Bunch Movie, which features actress Christine Taylor as Marcia Brady.

Screenings will be held 7:30 p.m. at Civic's 19th St. Theatre.

DeHaan attended Emmaus High School before transferring to the University of North Carolina School for the Arts for his senior year. His resume includes the films The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Lawless and Chronicle.

Since the release of Mean Girls in 2004, Seyfried has landed starring roles in such films as Ted 2, Mamma Mia!, Jennifer's Body, Letters to Juliet, Lovelace, Pan and Les Miserables. Seyfried is a 2003 graduate of William Allen High School.

Taylor most notably appeared opposite her husband, actor Ben Stiller, in the 2004 hit comedy Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. Taylor's film credits include Zoolander and The Wedding Singer. Before making the transition to the big screen, Taylor starred in the early 1990s Nickelodeon television series Hey Dude. Fans of Seinfeld may recognize Taylor for her turn as Jerry's girlfriend Ellen in the Season 8 episode "The Van Buren Boys."
