Rolling Stone names Bethlehem's Slingshot Dakota one of its '10 New Artists You Need to Know'

Praise continues to roll in for Bethlehem rock band Slingshot Dakota.

Rolling Stone magazine has named the husband and wife duo of singer-keyboardist Carly Commando and drummer Tom Patterson as one its "10 New Artists You Need to Know."

This is not the first national exposure for the band. Slingshot Dakota recently performed in Austin, Texas, as part of the annual South by Southwest festival and have been featured on National Public Radio and The AV Club.

The group recently released their album Break through Topshelf Records.

Commando earned an Emmy Award for her original piano score, which was featured in a 2007 episode of The Simpsons. The song was also used in the 2006 viral video "Noah Takes a Photo of Himself Every Day for 6 Years."

The Rolling Stone list is rounded out by Young Greatness, Moxie Raia, Zara Larsson, Terrace Martin, Big Ups, The Revivalists, Kyle Craft, Kaitlyn Aurella Smith and Frontierer, Writer Suzy Esposito describes Slingshot Dakota's sound as "Punchy love songs for rebellious former choir girls."

Slingshot Dakota will perform June 10 at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.
