Jazz singer Pam Purvis and multi-instrumentalist Fredrick Douglas are among the 10 artists who will honored will special recognition awards during the 2017 Lehigh Valley Music Awards in Bethlehem.
Purvis and Douglas will each receive Lifetime Achievement Awards for their more than 50 years in the music industry, according to a news release. Douglas -- a vocalist, keyboardist and drummer -- has collaborated with Luthor Vandross, The Drifters, The Platters and Martha and the Vandellas, among others.
Twenty-year Veteran Awards will be given to local musicians Tony DiLeo (Cherry Bombs), George Hrab (Philadelphia Funk Authority), Phil Pilorz (Scott Marshall & Marshall's Highway), Victor "Baby J" Rodriguez and Tanya "Star" Suarez.
Local musicians Jake Kaligis, Andrew Chervak and Rob Stoneback will each receive Board of Directors awards for their work with youth in music.
The Lehigh Valley Music Awards will be held 4 p.m. March 5 at Musikfest Cafe in Bethlehem.
This year's leading nominees including singer-songwriter Scott Marshall, vocalist Mike Roi and his band Roi and the Secret People, singer-songwriter Carter Lansing and bassist Shawn Cavanaugh.
