The vibrant and diverse arts community of SouthSide Bethlehem will again be the focus of ArtsQuest's annual SouthSide Arts & Music Festival.
This year's event, and third overall, is set for April 28-29.
Five venues will offer live music throughout the course of the festival, including scheduled performances by alternative rock band Rusted Root, singer-songwriter Steve Forbert and blues guitarist Coco Montoya at Musikfest Cafe, according to a news release.
Tickets -- which include access to all five locations -- cost $30 for single-passes and $50 for two-day passes for ArtsQuest members; tickets cost $28 and $45 for ArtsQuest members. Festival passes go on sale 10 a.m. Tuesday through bananafactory.org and by calling 610-332-3378.
Between 14 and 15 musical acts are slated to perform each night at the Museum of Industrial History, Holy Infancy School, Touchstone Theatre, Godfrey Daniels and Musikfest Cafe. The list of acts include a April 28 set by percussionist and former Bethlehem resident Pablo Batista at Holy Infancy School. (Batista's credits include performed at the 2002 Grammy Awards with Alicia Keys.)
Other festival highlights include: artisan sidewalk popup shops, food trucks, "Lehigh Valley Art Wars," Steampunk-inspired jewelry-making, a mural installation by traveling artist residency program Dripped on the Road, contemporary dance performances by B.S. Movement and a Bethlehem Steel-inspired graffiti tape art installation and workshop by artist Jay Walker at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. Walker will also design plaid shirt artwork pieces, which will be installed in empty storefronts and merchant locations throughout SouthSide Bethlehem, according to the release.
Additionally, improvisational comedy troupe The Associated Mess will perform April 29 at Touchstone Theatre.
