Phillipsburg Comic Con adds fan-favorites Walter, Louise Simonson to lineup

The popular husband-and-wife team of Walter and Louise Simonson have been added to the lineup for the 2017 Phillipsburg Comic Con.

Artist-writer Walt Simonson is best known for his influential four-year run on Marvel Comics' "Thor." During that period, Simonson created the character Beta Ray Bill. His credits also include "Fantastic Four," "Detective Comics," "Metal Men," "Star Wars" and "Alien."

Writer Louise Simonson has lent her talents to such titles as "X-Factor," "Power Pack," "New Mutants," "Web of Spider-Man" and "Superman: The Man of Steel." In 1986, Louise Simonson and artist Jackson Guice introduced the villain Apocalypse in the pages of "X-Factor" No. 6. Actor Oscar Isaac played the character in the 2016 film X-Men: Apocalypse

Additionally, Louise Simonson was one of the principle architects of the famous "Death of Superman" storyline from the early 1990s and was among the writers who contributed to the "Superman: The Wedding Album" one-shot.

Walt and Louise Simonson co-wrote Marvel Comics' "Havoc and Wolverine: Meltdown" limited series. They also collaborated on "X-Factor" from 1988 to 1989.

The fan-favorite industry veterans join a roster that includes writer-artist Joe Kelly ("Spider-Man/Deadpool"), inker Scott Hanna ("Amazing Spider-Man"), fashion designer Pamela Ptak (Project Runway) and artists Will Rosado ("Green Arrow") and Diana Leto ("My Little Pony").

Phillipsburg Comic Con will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 13 at Phillipsburg High School, 1 Stateliner Blvd., Phillipsburg.
