Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane is bringing The Birdcage to Easton.
The veteran actor will appear Oct. 22 at the State Theatre, officials announced Thursday. The evening will include a screening of the film The Birdcage, followed by a moderated discussion and question-and-answer session with Lane.
Tickets cost $69.50-$99.50. Show time is 3 p.m.
The Birdcage was released in 1996 and co-stars the late Robin Williams, Gene Hackman, Diane Weist, Calista Flockhart and Hank Azaria. The film spent three consecutive weeks at the top of the box office and was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award.
Lane's career has netted him two Daytime Emmy Awards and a Screen Actors Guild Award. His Broadway credits include The Producers, The Front Page, It's Only a Play, The Nance, The Addams Family, Waiting for Godot, The Man Who Came to Dinner, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Guys and Dolls and Laughter on the 23rd Floor.
In 2008, Lane was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame.
On screen, Lane has landed recurring roles in the televisions series Modern Family, The Good Wife and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. He voiced the character Timon in the hit Disney animated film The Lion King.
Lane's appearance will mark the fourth such show for the State Theatre, following similar appearances by director Mel Brooks and actor Christopher Lloyd. Comedian and actor John Cleese is set to stop at the venue on Sept. 19 for a Q&A and screening of the influential British comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
