State Theatre’s “Stage on Stage” live music series will return in February for back-to-back weekends of shows at the historic Easton venue.
New Jersey-based indie rock trio The Happy Fits will headline the Feb. 2 showcase, which will also feature performances by power pop outfit Summer Scouts and psychedelic folk outfit ITO.
Progressive folk trio Honeysuckle, Americana-folk group Jackson Pines, and singer-songwriter Pentley Holmes are set to perform the following weekend, Feb. 9.
Doors open 6:30 p.m. both nights, with a start time of 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets cost $12.50 in advance, $15 at the door.
I will have the honor of serving as the official host for both shows.
During “Stage on Stage,” the theater’s main stage is transformed into a club-style atmosphere, with both the artists and fans sharing the space. The inaugural “Stage on Stage” concert was held in January and featured performances by blues quartet the Trongone Band and Easton-based Americana-rock outfit Acoustic Kitty Project.
The Happy Fits — Calvin Langman (vocals, cello), Ross Monteith (vocals, guitar), and Luke Davis (drums, percussion) — were among the acts featured during April’s sold-out “Stage on Stage” concert at the theater. The band released their debut full-length album, Concentrate, in June. Concentrate includes the singles “Grow Back” and “Hungry People.”
Allentown-based Summer Scouts released their debut full-length album, Furthest Reach, in May 2016 via Darkshore Music Group. Furthest Reach includes the single “Olympic White.” In March 2017, the band released a music video for their single "Give It Our All."
ITO, of Easton, released their debut EP, Barefoot, in July 2017.
Jackson Pines’ debut full-length album, Purgatory Road, dropped in 2016.
Holmes, of Phillipsburg, and his band, Lucid Dreamers, released their debut LP Rip Out My Heart in September 2016. The album spawned the single "Shape Up." Holmes released the single, “A Good Friend of Mine,” in June.
