The State Theatre is bringing back its "Dancing with Your Lehigh Valley Stars" competition to give a new batch of local personalities the chance to shake their booty in front of a live audience.
"Dancing with Your Lehigh Valley Stars," inspired by the ABC reality television competition series Dancing with the Stars, will be held April 21 at the theater. Six local contestants will be partnered with professional dancers from the Utah Ballroom Dance Company to compete for the coveted Mirror Ball trophy.
The contestants are:
- TEAM ANNIE: Annie Episcopo (Alvin H. Butz)
- TEAM ASHLEY: Ashley Russo (The Peak/ASR Media Productions)
- TEAM BECCA: Becca Lynn (Cat Country 96)
- TEAM STEPHEN: Stephen Wilson (Easton Hospital)
- TEAM FRANK: Frank Facchiano (Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce)
- TEAM SCOTT: Scott Kalamar (Northampton Community College)
The first half of the show will be the competition. A performance by dancers from the Utah Ballroom Dance Company will make up the second half of the show. The winner of the Mirror Ball trophy will be announced at the close of "Dancing with Your Lehigh Valley Stars," according to a news release.
Judges will be announced at a later date, the release states. Easton Mayor Sal Panto Jr., Freddy Awards dance coordinator Stacey Higgins and yours truly judged the inaugural "Dancing with Your Lehigh Valley Stars" dance-off.
WFMZ-TV Channel 69 morning news anchor Eve Tannery won the 2015 competition.
Tickets cost $30, $15 for students. Proceeds will benefit the State Theatre's annual Freddy Awards program, which recognizes excellence in high school theater.
