Tom Hanks to visit Easton college

Tom Hanks is coming to Easton.

The Forrest Gump and Saving Private Ryan star will visit Lafayette College on Feb. 15, according to LehighValleyLive.com. Hanks will be on campus as part of a forum with Lafayette President Alison Byerly and history professor Donald L. Miller, the site reports.

Byerly made the announcement Friday.

The 59-year-old Academy Award-winning actor has collaborated with Miller on several World War II-related projects, including an upcoming HBO miniseries based on the latter's bestselling book "Masters of Air," according to the site. 

Seating for the question-and-answer style forum is limited to 1,700. Lafayette students, faculty and staff will be given first crack at the free tickets, the site reports.

In addition to a lengthy acting resume that includes starring in such films as Philadelphia, Toy Story, The Green Mile, Captain Phillips, A League of Their Own, Splash and Big, Hanks directed the films Larry Crowne and That Thing You Do! He served as an executive producer on the 2001 HBO miniseries Band of Brothers.
