Both sides of the Delaware River will be represented during the final round of the SteelStacks High School Jazz Band Showcase.
Easton Area High School and Phillipsburg High School are among the finalists, a list rounded out by Delaware Valley Regional High School Jazz Band, Lehigh Valley Charter Arts High School Jazz Band, North Penn High School Navy Band and Quakertown Community High School Jazz Band. ArtsQuest revealed the finalists Tuesday in a news release.
The competition is set for 4 p.m. March 20 at Musikfest Cafe, with each band vying or the chance to receive a masterclass session with saxophonist and RiverJazz headliner Jessy J. The winning groups will open for Jessy J during the latter's May 12 performance at Musikfest Cafe.
During the finals, each participating band will perform a 20-minute set before a live audience and panel of judges. The winner will be announced April 2 during a one-hour special on WFMZ-TV.
