Kiss is returning to Allentown.

The hard rock icons on Sept. 1 will bring their Freedom to Rock Tour to the Great Allentown Fair, officials announced Friday. Show time is 7 p.m.

Tickets, which cost $83 and $63, go on sale 10 a.m. April 15, according to LehighValleyLive.com.

Kiss' last trip to the Lehigh Valley was a headlining performance at Lehigh University's Stabler Arena in September 1992, kicking off their Revenge Tour. In 1975, Kiss headlined Allentown's Agricultural Hall and again in 1990.

The current Kiss lineup of bassist-vocalist Gene Simmons, guitarist-vocalist, Paul Stanley, drummer Eric Singer and guitarist Tommy Thayer have released two studio albums: 2009's Sonic Boom and 2012's Monster.

The original configuration of Simmons, Stanley, drummer Peter Criss and guitarist Ace Frehley released their self-titled debut album in 1974. Anchored by the single "Rock and Roll All Nite," their landmark 1975 live album Alive! launched the band into mainstream success. Their 1976 follow-up effort, Destroyer, has been certified double-platinum.

To date, Kiss has sold more than 100 albums worldwide. Their hits include "Detroit Rock City," "Shout It Out Loud," "Beth," "Love Gun," "Forever" and "Lick It Up," among others.

Simmons and Stanley reunited with Criss and Frehley in 1996 for a massive world tour. (Criss first left the band in 1980, followed by Frehley in 1982.) Singer -- who previously recorded and toured with Kiss from 1991 to 1996 -- was brought on board in 2000 to replace Criss. Criss returned to the fold in 2002, only to part ways two years later.

Frehley left for the second time in 2002, replaced by Thayer. (Thayer co-wrote two songs for Kiss' 1989 studio album, Hot in the Shade, and continued to work behind-the-scenes for the band.) Singer and Thayer adopted Criss and Frehley's signature Cat Man and Spaceman personas, respectively.

The original Kiss lineup of Simmons, Stanley, Criss and Frehley were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.

Country music singer Chris Stapleton and comedian Jeff Dunham have also been announced as Allentown Fair headliners.
