Dieruff High School and Parkland High School lead the 2016 Freddy Awards nominees with 15 and 13 nominations, respectively.
Trailing closely behind are Bangor Area High School with 12 nominations for its production of "Ragtime (School Edition)," Whitehall High School ("Guys and Dolls") and Freedom High School ("Guys and Dolls"). The latter two are tied with 11 nominations each.
All five leading schools will compete for the coveted Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical award.
The nominees for the 14th annual ceremony, which recognizes excellence in high school musical theater, were announced Thursday by the State Theatre and WFMZ-TV.

The Freddy Awards will take place 7 p.m. May 26 at the State Theatre in Easton and will air live on WFMZ-TV Channel 69.
